The waters around Howe Sound have been part of my life since childhood. As a child, my family spent summers on Gambier Island and I explored the forest and beach endlessly from our tiny cabin in Gibross Bay.  Ian and I moved to Bowen Island in 1990 and eventually introduced our own children to the wonders of the seashore and its inhabitants: the hermit crab, the crusty barnacles, the popping seaweed, the illusive starfish….and these days one of my favourite things to do is to kayak the shoreline at low tide to see seals sunning themselves on the rocks. I also love to explore tidal pools and marvel at these tiny microcosms of endurance and beauty, each one a work of art in itself!
